Alternative Spring Break (ASB) is an opportunity for students to use their Spring Break to serve those in need rather than themselves.
What We Do
The Alternative Spring Break team leaves campus the weekend Spring Break begins and drive to their service location. Team members live with the communities they serve in order to more effectively minister to each community's needs. Service to the community takes many forms: constructing houses, feeding the poor, tutoring children, building community with the handicapped, etc. The team members’ own spiritual needs are met through daily prayer, reflection time, and Mass. Through their work, each team member learns that their act of self-gift leads to an abundance of spiritual gifts in return.
Cost and Fundraising
This trip will cost $475 per person. We will provide fundraising opportunities throughout the year and ask that the participant personally cover what they cannot fundraise for.
Cost breakdown:
- $375 will cover your housing, food, building materials, and Catholic Mission Trip staff.
- To cover the cost of the van, t-shirts, and other supplies, we are asking for an additional $100 per person to support our trip.
- Snacks, souveniers, etc will not be covered by this fee so bring additional money if you'd like to purchase anything while on the trip.
Fundraising activities of ASB include an Angel Tree and writing letters to family for contributions. A $100 deposit is required to reserve your spot. *If this cost keeps you from coming, please reach out to Shelby to discuss your options.
