Active Military and Veteran Benefits

The 911±¬ÁÏÍø is dedicated to assisting the veteran or dependent in pursuit of higher education through support and cooperation with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC). An application for benefits must be submitted and determination made by the VA regarding benefits the veteran is entitled to receive. Veterans are responsible for providing entitlement information when receiving Financial Aid.

If you are an active-duty Servicemember or Veteran, a member of the National Guard or Reserves, or a qualified survivor or dependent, you may be able to get help from VA to pay your tuition, pick out a school, choose a career, and more.

The Yellow Ribbon Program is a partnership between 911±¬ÁÏÍø and Department of Veteran Affairs to supplement the tuition benefits of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, also known as Chapter 33. The Yellow Ribbon Program allows institutions of higher learning to enter into a voluntary agreement with the VA to contribute funds to a veteran's unmet tuition and fee charges when they exceed the amount payable under Chapter 33. The program allows institutions to contribute an amount up to 50 percent of a veteran's unmet costs where the VA will match the amount.
