Paying SEVIS Fees

Paying the SEVIS I-901 Fee for F-1 Students

A student requesting an F-1 visa is required to pay a $350 SEVIS fee to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).  SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is the federal database that keeps records on students studying in the U.S. Federal law requires that this database be supported by fees paid by students and exchange visitors. You must show proof that the $350 SEVIS fee has been paid during visa appointment and/or arrival in the U.S. The SEVIS fee is separate from the visa fee you will pay to the embassy or consulate to receive your F-1.

Canadian citizens must also pay the SEVIS fee and show the receipt when arriving in the U.S.

Transfer F-1 Students: You do not need to pay the SEVIS fee a second time if you are a SEVIS transfer student who is transferring your existing F-1 record to University of Dallas.
