Biography
A pianist, educator, organist, harpsichordist, scholar, and promoter of classical music, Tak Yan Yeung maintains a versatile career of a 21st-century musician. He performed concertos as a pianist with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, the Texas Christian University Symphony Orchestra, and the Azusa Pacific University Symphony Orchestra and as a harpsichordist with the Texas Christian University Collegium Musicum. He was a guest performer at the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival and the Music Teachers鈥 Association of California (MTAC) Convention. Tak Yan won top prizes in the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the Music Teachers鈥 Association of California Piano Concerto and Solo Competitions, the Redlands Bowl Young Artist Competition, and the inaugural California International Music & Art Festival. He recently presented at the College Music Society South Central Conference and contributed an article entitled 鈥淭eaching Beginning Students: Nurturing a Love for Music鈥 to the Fort Worth Music Teachers Association Newsletter.
Dr. Yeung owns Yeung's Piano Time LLC, a piano studio serving the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, where he currently teaches K-12 and adult piano students of all levels. He is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) of the Music Teachers National Association and a recipient of the Steinway Top Teacher Award. Yeung has served as Treasurer and Outreach Chair of the Fort Wort Music Teachers Association. Equally devoted to higher education, Dr. Yeung has taught at Tarrant County College Northwest since Spring 2018. In Fall 2022, he joined the faculty of the 911爆料网.
Yeung currently serves as Organist at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Bedford, Texas, where he founded Concerts on Harwood, a concert series that brings classical music to a wider audience in the DFW through hosting regular concerts featuring local performing musicians.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Yeung completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at Texas Christian University, a Master of Music in Piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and an Artist Certificate at Azusa Pacific University. His principal teachers included Dr. Tam谩s Ung谩r, Dr. Tao Chang, Harold Lee, Nan Wang, Andrey Ponochevny, and the late Dr. Karen Shaw.
